20 October 2020 - Deputy Minister of Small Business Development Ms. Nokuzola Capa together with eThekwini Municipality leadership, will on Wednesday, 21 October 2020 hand over tools and equipment to 46 informal business owners in eThekwini Metro, KwaZulu Natal.  The ceremony will take place at the KwaMashu Sports Centre.

Joint statement by Department of Small Business Development and Nedbank on uplifting 40 000 informal traders

20 November 2020-The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) has partnered with Nedbank to empower 40 000 informal fruit and vegetable traders and help to restart their businesses. In a total contribution of R40 million, qualifying traders will receive grants of R1000 each, the money will be used to buy stock.

Misinformation about expenditure on small businesses COVID-19 relief funds

14 January 2021 - The Minister of Small Business Development, Hon. Khumbudzo Ntshavheni is appalled at the misinformation peddled by the DA about expenditure on small businesses COVID-19 relief funds. Just some few fact check would have clarified that the Department of Small Business Development had only managed to reprioritise only R500 million for the SMME Debt Relief and not the purported R1.4 billion as claimed by the DA.

16 July 2021 - Small business and informal business associations condemn violence and looting and welcome interventions by the Department of Small Business Development to provide support to existing and new SMMEs and informal trades. On Tuesday 13, July 2021, Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni held a meeting with the leadership of the NAFCOC, SAITA and Foundation for African Business and Consumer Services (FABCOS) pertaining to matters affecting SMMEs and Informal Traders.
