07 August 2021 – Department of Small Business Development welcomes the appointment of Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams and Deputy Minister Sdumo Dlamini. The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), together with its entities and the entire small business fraternity welcomes Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams to the Ministry responsible for the transformation of the economy, empowerment, and development of small to medium enterprises as well as cooperatives.

Annual Report 2016-17

The achievements indicated in the 2016/17 annual report are an indication of the positive trajectory towards contributing to and supporting the development of small business and cooperatives, as espoused in Section 22 of our Constitution, as well as the National Development Plan (NDP).

Emergency Tax Relief Measures for SMMEs

On 25 July 2021, President Ramaphosa announced emergency tax measures. This was in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and recent unrest in the country that resulted in the destruction of businesses. Further details of the proposed measures were provided by the Minister of Finance and National Treasury on 28 July 2021. This is an overview of the relief measures applicable to Small, Micro, and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) and others.
