Department of Small Business Development welcomes the appointment of Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams and Deputy Minister Sdumo Dlamini.

The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), together with its entities Small Enterprise Finance Agency (sefa) and Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), and the entire small business fraternity welcomes Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams to the Ministry responsible for the transformation of the economy, empowerment, and development of small to medium enterprises as well as cooperatives.

Minister Ndabeni- Abrahams brings a wealth of experience that will certainly help create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. Equally, the Department is thrilled by the deployment of Deputy Minister Sdumo Dlamini who played a pivotal role in the development and empowerment of small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector.

Both Minister and Deputy Minister join the Department at a crucial time when the country is on the economic recovery trajectory. The recent looting and unrest that occurred in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal has compelled the Department to review and repackage support measures for enterprises impacted negatively by the unrest.

The DSBD and its agencies remain committed to its mission which seeks to radically transform the economy through the promotion and development of entrepreneurship but also mobilisation of resources in the sector to ensure sustainability and growth of SMMEs and Cooperatives. It is undoubtedly an opportune time for Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams and Deputy Minister Sdumo Dlamini to steer the small business sector in the right direction.
