DSBD-Annual Report 2021/22

The 2021/22 financial year saw the recovery of the South African economy after the devastation of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Following the economic contraction of 6.4% in 2020, the economy recovered well in 2021, growing at 4.9%. However, this recovery has not been sustained with renewed global volatility associated with the War in Ukraine.

Annual Performance Plans

We are just coming out of what has turned out to be our deepest and most protracted recession. Our economy contracted by 6.4% in 2020. Further, as at June 2021 1.5 million jobs were shed. The South African government implemented a R500 billion package of economic relief aimed at mitigating the worst effects of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Annual Performance Plan 2020/21

The 2021/22 Annual Performance Plan of the Department for Small Business Development (DSBD) was developed with the objectives of achieving the targets set-out in the National Development Plan (NDP, the Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF), and the Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan of South Africa.
