Director-General for the Department of Small Business Development, Mr Lindokuhle Mkhumane has been involved in the small business policy development and implementation for a period of just over 24 years.

He has worked in all three spheres of government. His experience includes trade and investment, where he was responsible for international relations focusing on the Asian region for a period of four years under the Department of Trade and Industry. At a local government level he worked for one of the biggest Metros in South Africa i.e. City of Johannesburg driving Economic and Industrial Support for the municipality which included identifying and researching key economic opportunities that can drive the development of the economic hub of the country. In terms of academics, the highest qualification he holds is a Master of Business Leadership.

He was appointed Deputy Director-General: Enterprise Development and Entrepreneurship in June 2018 and shortly assumed responsibility as the Acting Director-General in October 2018 for the Department of Small Business Development. The Director-General has the full backing of Cabinet and the complete support of all employees within the Department of Small Business Development.
