Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams accompanied by Umzimvubu mayor to lead a local delegation in Kwabhaca during the Nation-Wide Vooma Vaccination Weekend

Minister for Small Business Development, Ms. Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, in her capacity as the Alfred Nzo District Development Model (DDM) Champion, will on Friday, 01 October 2021, lead a delegation of local leaders at Umzimvubu Local Municipality in KwaBhaca, to engage communities to take the COVID – 19 vaccine. This follows a nation-wide call by the State President to launch the Vooma Vaccination Weekend in aid of encouraging more South Africans to get vaccinated. 

The Minister will be accompanied by the Umzimvubu Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Sobane Mnukwa, as this is one of many programmes in the Alfred Nzo District aimed at reaching population immunity by the end of December 2021. A total number of 59 vaccination sites in the district are expected to be fully operational from the 1st October – 3rd October 2021 between 08:00 AM – 16:00 PM. 

“Our overall objective is to vaccinate 70% of adults by the end of the year. If we achieve that, projections are that we will save at least 20 000 lives” said Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams. “The Alfred Nzo Community is urged to rally behind the call and encourage more residents to get vaccinated. This is a “Call to Action” where all leaders, civil society groups, NPOs, interfaith organisations and the private sector across South Africa are urged to encourage those they lead to get vaccinated” concluded the Minister.
