Minister Lindiwe Zulu delivers bakkies and resources to small businesses

Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will, on Wednesday, 14 March 2018 hand over bakkies, stock and cash safes to five micro-distributors as part of the DSBD-Nestle Micro-Distributor Programme.
 
The Department of Small Business Development has partnered with Nestle South Africa in an Enterprise Development Programme to grow Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs). It is expected that 34 more micro-distributors will benefit over the next few months and at least 200 will have benefited by 2020. All beneficiaries of the programme are operating in townships and rural areas.
 
A total of R250 000 has been invested per SMME that has been approved as a micro-distributor. R150 000 is ear-marked for the purchase of the vehicle, while the balance will to go to storage, safes, and stock.

Minister Lindiwe Zulu sees small businesses and co-operatives as critical to creating an economy that benefits all. She commended Nestle for partnering with the department to help develop and grow small businesses.  “It is through these kinds of intervention that we will be able to defeat the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality”, said Minister Zulu.
