Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu and Premier of the Free State, Mr Ace Magashule, as well as the leadership of the cooperatives movement have led successful International Cooperatives Day celebrations from the 25th to the 26th of August 2017 in Bloemfontein, Free State. The event was also graced by the attendance of President Jacob Zuma.
The International Cooperatives Day event is a platform to share practical ideas on how the cooperatives sector can be supported and developed into a force of economic and social inclusion. Government sees cooperatives as vehicles for economic development, democratic economic participation and redistribution of wealth.
The International Day of Co-operatives is an annual celebration of the co-operative movement observed since 1923 by the International Co-operative Alliance. This year’s celebration was held under the theme: Putting people at the centre of development
