The beneficiaries are part of the Informal and Micro Enterprise Development Programme (IMEDP), which aims to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of SMMEs, informal traders and co-operatives

Ndabeni-Abrahams will speak on DSBD's programmes and offerings that are meant to alleviate poverty and encourage entrepreneurship via Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) development.

The arming of SMMEs is a cornerstone to economic growth and emancipation from poverty as that is where most jobs are created.

A total number of 59 informal traders, up and coming businesses as well as SMMEs will be supported with machinery, hand tools and electronic equipment by the department.

Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams has arrived at Maclear Town Hall in Nqanqarhu, Elundini Local Municipality.

Her visit forms part of the Department of Small Business Development flagship Informal and Micro Enterprise Development Programme (IMEDP), which is a 100% grant initiative, that seeks to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of informal and micro enterprises, particularly those owned by women, youth, and people with disabilities in townships and rural areas.
